Frequently Asked Questions
General
What is DevOps Genie?
DevOps Genie is an AI-powered DevOps platform for cloud security, compliance, infrastructure automation, and operational workflows.
Do I need to install the DevOps Genie Agent?
No. Cloud scanning, findings, compliance posture, dashboard views, and many AI Assistant questions work without the agent. Install the agent when you want infrastructure automation, VCS-backed pull requests, or in-cluster workflows.
Which clouds are supported?
AWS, GCP, and Azure are supported for cloud scanning and compliance visibility.
Cloud accounts
What access does scanning require?
Scanning uses read-oriented access. AWS uses a role ARN and External ID, GCP uses service account JSON, and Azure uses app registration credentials with Reader access.
What happens after I connect a cloud account?
DevOps Genie validates the account and starts an initial scan. Results appear in Security, Compliance, and Risk Inventory views.
Can I connect more than one account?
Yes. Add more accounts from Cloud Accounts > Add Cloud Account.
Findings and compliance
What is the difference between acknowledged and accepted risk?
Acknowledged means reviewed but still active. Accepted risk means your organization has approved the exception, optionally with an expiry.
Why did a finding reappear?
The resource still fails the check or the issue was reintroduced. Reopen the finding drawer for the affected resource and remediation guidance.
Where do I choose compliance frameworks?
Admins can manage active frameworks in Settings > General.
Agent and automation
What does the agent need?
The agent needs a DevOps Genie API key, image pull credentials, and optional VCS access for pull-request based workflows.
Why is a capability marked partial?
A dependency is missing. Common causes include no live agent, stale heartbeat, missing VCS auth, or missing repository URL.
Does DevOps Genie merge pull requests?
No. Generated changes are reviewable pull requests. Your team controls review, approval, merge, and deployment.
